Clifton Primary School approached us with hopes to redeveloped their outdoor space. The area was a blank canvas. Clifton wanted to prompt their pupils imaginations whilst helping them get active in the space.

The first part of the project was to re-tarmac the area as it had become cracked. Old Tarmacadam will also lose it porous properties meaning the area is more likely to flood, creating further deterioration and slip hazards.

Once the new Tarmac surface was down we installed a Multi Use Games area (MUGA). Clifton already has a large field in which they use for Sports, however this cannot be used all year round due to the famous British weather. This is who so many Schools and Parks are moving towards MUGAs, the ability to use them in most Weather is a massive benefit and they're a lot easier to maintain than Grass pitches. The MUGA at Clifton included; 2 recessed goal ends, 4 Basketball Hoops with backboards, Cricket Wickets and Steel Tennis Nets which double up as barriers mark the perimeter of the court.

We then installed a Timber Clamber Stack and 4 Den Poles. The Clamber Stacks are another item that have recently become very popular in Schools and Nurseries. They're perfect for improving Gross Motor Skills and Balance. Combined with the Den Poles, the area offers ample opportunity to let their imaginations' run wild in their new play area. Den Poles are also great for promoting Team-building and Social skills amongst the Pupils.

The final item on the agenda was the Thermoplastic Markings and Anti-slip Acrylic Colour Coating. Thermos are a great way to fill a space with play value at the fraction of the price that Play Units cost. Another benefit is the vibrant colours we offer, against the new tarmac these playground markings were bound to burst with colour! We brought some options to Clifton Primary School of the Thermos we thought would best suit the area and bring the most play value, the Roadway was given a base of blue Anti-slip Acrylic Colour Coating, this means that the Trikes and Bikes will have much better grip, even in the rain. Roadways are one of the most popular types of Thermoplastic Markings we install, not just because of the amount of Pupils that can use them at once, but for the key learning skills their designed to develop such as; Team building, Social, Cognitive, Imagination and most importantly Road Safety, we always try to include Zebra Crossings, Traffic Lights and Stop, Look, Listen into our Roadway designs. As shown in the images below we included some other Thermo Markings such as a fitness trail, hopscotch and more!

It was a pleasure to work at Clifton Primary School from the design phase through to installation, and we know their new area is going to bring years of value to the school and most importantly fun!
