From Concept to Classroom: The Unique Timber Classroom Installation at Lancaster Road School

Lancaster Road School approached us with a bold vision, to create a unique, sustainable learning space that would inspire both students and teachers, blending nature with education through a bespoke timber classroom.

To kick off the project, our team began by excavating a 6m x 4m area, carefully removing the soil and debris to prepare the site for the new classroom. All excavated materials were promptly carted away via skip, ensuring a clean and safe workspace. Once the area was cleared, we imported and poured a solid concrete pad, creating a strong and level foundation for the bespoke timber classroom to be installed. This crucial first step set the stage for what would become an innovative and inspiring learning environment.

With the foundation in place, we moved on to the installation of the timber classroom itself, following the provided design to ensure every detail was met. The structure featured large double-glazed windows, allowing plenty of natural light to flood the space while maintaining energy efficiency. We carefully added an insulation layer to keep the classroom warm in the winter and cool in the summer, ensuring a comfortable environment for year-round use. Inside, we installed stylish and durable internal cladding, adding both aesthetic appeal and functionality. Finally, we topped it off with a robust rubber roof, designed to be weather-resistant and low-maintenance, completing the classroom’s practical and sustainable design.

Once the timber structure had been installed, we turned our attention to the interior, ensuring the classroom would be both comfortable and well-lit. We fitted two radiators to keep the space warm during colder months, ensuring a cozy environment for learning. To enhance the lighting, we installed eight spotlights throughout the room, providing bright, even illumination that helps create an ideal atmosphere for study. These finishing touches were key in making the classroom a functional and inviting space for the students.

The project was a great success, and the finished timber classroom is a perfect blend of functionality and design, providing a welcoming and inspiring space for students and teachers alike. It was a pleasure working with Lancaster Road School throughout the entire process; their vision and collaboration made this project truly special. We are proud of the outcome and thrilled to have played a part in bringing their dream classroom to life.
