Revitalizing West End School’s Playground: Unipave Overlay and Artificial Grass Maintenance in Morecambe

West End School approached us with the goal of rejuvenating their outdoor space. The area was in need of some attention. The school wanted to make the area more appealing and create a safe space for the children to play.

The first area the school wanted us to focus on was the the pathway going around their multi use games area (MUGA), as this surfacing leading round the pitch had become slippery, creating a dangerous environment for the children and staff. We decided to approach this problem by carefully cutting back the existing Unipave along its edges to ensure the new surface would be flush to the edges and align seamlessly with the path. We then applied a fresh 25mm deep overlay of Buff Unipave surfacing. This upgraded path, which spanned over a total area of 275m², significantly enhanced the safety and functionality of the space, with a now durable and non-slip surface.

The next area of attention was the artificial grass inside the MUGA. This grass was in need of a deep clean due to the build up of debris and silt. We began by PowerBrushing the entire surface to pick the pile up and thoroughly clean the Artificial Grass. Afterward, we carefully inspected all the seams to ensure they were still intact, making any necessary repairs with artificial grass glue. Once the cleaning and repairs were complete, the surface was restored to its optimal condition, boosting both its appearance and functionality for the children to enjoy.

The transformation of West End School’s outdoor space has been a rewarding project, resulting in a safer and more vibrant area for the children to enjoy. Through careful attention to details, from enhancing the pathway for better safety to restoring the artificial grass to its former quality, we’ve helped create a space that truly meets the needs of both the school and its students.
