Time for an upgrade in Bacup!

Britannia Primary School in Bacup came to us with the intention of renewing an old area and also extending that area to allow more pupils to use it. One of the best ways to get lots of users onto an area is through a Trim Trail. They are great for promoting the use of skills such as; Balance, Social, Gross Motor, Team work, Competing and Social Skills.

The first part of the project was to remove the existing equipment that had served the School well, but was ready for it's replacement. Once removed and safely disposed of, it was time to begin excavating the area where the new Trim Trial was going to extend along. The team then installed a concrete edging creating a solid perimeter for a layer of compacted stone to be imported, giving the Black Wetpour Safety Surfacing a solid base, ensuring the surfacing lasts as long as possible.

The next task was to construct the Timber Trim Trail which consisted of the following items:

• 2 x Sloping Balance Walks

• Cross Rope

• 200mm Stepping Logs

• Log Rope

• Log Snake

• Rope Walk

• Walk and Stretch

The final part of this installation was to lay the Black Wetpour. While these Trim Trail items can be safely fitted directly onto Grass, the porous surfacing means the are can be used all year round without the risk of rainy days taking the play away!

The staff were all very welcoming from the initial appointment through to the last day of the installation, we look forward to working with Bacup Britannia Primary School in the future and know their new Timber Trim Trail is going to bring many years of fun (and learning) during play times.
